Clinical Research

The physicians at ICMG believe strongly that medical research is an important tool to advance medical science, and that it also affords us the opportunity to offer our patients the latest in cutting-edge cardiac care.

Currently the physicians at ICMG are screening patients for recruitment to the following clinical trials (performed at affiliated centers):

  • The PARTNER trial: for patients with aortic stenosis, investigating a new, non-surgical aortic valve replacement.
  • The EVEREST trial: for patients with mitral regurgitation, investigating a non-surgical method of mitral valve repair.
  • The PROTECT-AF trial: in atrial fibrillation, non-surgical closure of the left atrial appendage may allow patients to stop taking coumadin
  • The CLOSURE-I trial: for patients with patent foramen ovale and stroke, investigating closure of the defect as an alternative to long term anicoagulants
  • The REVITALIZE trial: after myocardial infarction (heart attack), your own stem cells may help your heart to grow back dead tissue
  • The HOMEOSTASIS trial: in congestive heart failure, implantation of a device to monitor pressures inside the heart to reduce symptoms.
